Journal Summary Three
Journal Summary Three – REFLECTION (five points)– this particular text should serve to summarize your observations concerning writing progress made over the course of this class and the role of the ePortfolio. The text may be written as a single paragraph or an essay and should be between 300 and 500 words. If written as a single paragraph, the topic sentence should serve to provide the reader with a glimpse of what will follow in the paragraph. If you elect to write an essay, simply follow the standard format we have used throughout the course.
An updated editing skills checklist is required for support.
During this semester of UNIV 150 my progress in writing has definitely improved. Looking at my past essays in high school and my WSPT I am making less errors. My main problem was how I would change my point of views. I also had problems with comma splices and when to place a comma in a sentence. As we wrote all of our essays not only was it a grade, but it plays as a piece for our ePortfolio. The ePortfolio in my opinion is meant to of course show our progress through this course, but can also play as an example for students who will take this class. Students may look at our sites and could possibly learn from our mistakes as we describe our flaws and how wer managed to fix them. What also helped were the writing review sessions we could go to after writing our rough drafts or before we turn in our final. Other professors would look at our essays and guide us in a way to make our essays flow and sound better. The flow of my essays happened to be my strength in writing. Whenever I wrote my essays, I would most likely write my thesis in a way where all my topics would connect in the end. For example in one of my essays the prompt was to write about college students seeking help in college. I listed things that could happen to a student that will eventually lead to stress and failure. Therefore, this course has really helped my writing improve. This semester I was able to finally sound like a college student in my writing.
