For any new business there are lots of factors to think about before opening to the public but one thing most businesses do not realize is that cybersecurity is just as important as making sure you are stocked and ready for opening day. Cybersecurity programs are important to businesses as they protect your businesses’ and employee’s important information from being leaked in a cyber attack or being hacked. All of this is easier said than done when it comes down to it as these things can be pricy to install and upkeep. Depending on what the business needs, they would have to research and find either a cybersecurity company or hire a designated cybersecurity/IT person for their company which can both be equally expensive depending on what exactly the needs of the business are. After this is figured out, the owner and all employees would need training on the systems and practices that are in place to ensure that everyone is on the same page about everything. This can be costly but you will mostly be paying with your time as it takes more than a day for people to be trained properly. If you hire an outside company or person to teach your employees that would be an added expense versus having your expert on staff already. Another cost is to upkeep your system. Again, this cost may differ depending on if you are using an outside company or your own cybersecurity expert. Upkeep should be done weekly to ensure all systems are secure and up to date so that all vital information is protected. The benefits of having a cybersecurity system in your business outweighs the cost of having the system itself in my opinion. Being able to protect all your software and information and employee infromation is extremely important so you are not hacked or have your informations stolen. Besides hackers attacking your business, it is important to protect your employees as well. If there is a breach it may cost thousands of dollars to secure your data again and to deal witht the losses. Although it may be pricey to install cybersecurity systems for your business, the benefits are far too great to pass up risking your information being compromised.
