So, week 5 brought with it the topics of Firewalls and Virtual Private Networks (VPN). Along with that, the re-iteration of the information security system and its tools.
So firewalls, again, are software that can be ran on a computer, a router, or a stand-alone appliance. A firewalls job is to filter out any unwanted packets, again this was covered in week 2. Their job is to ensure that nothing bad comes through the firewall and goes into your system.
Now, the introduction of a VPN. A Virtual Private Network allows you to have privacy online and surf the internet without being in the open. It gives you the feeling of anonymity while surfing and isolates your connection while searching on a public internet network.
So, information security systems are what make the critical areas of protecting your systems. To bring you back up to speed, those are Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability. And the ways to make your system more secure is to use Authentication methods like Two-Step Authentication or any kind of Biometrics. Encrypting data allows for the transfer of data safely to another server or person.
The importance of implementing new security technology with engineers is so that the server or system security stays up-to-date so that the security aspect of everything can combat against any threat at a faster rate. Also another thing to implement in the case an engineer needs to shut everything down, the use of back up dries are a good way to store information and take out in the case something goes wrong and the system has to be reset.
Finally, this section covered Industry 4.0. Industry 4.0 has a greater focus on connecting entire companies and giving greater focus on the other aspects of business. Utilizing smart technology to get the job done. It refers to a new phase in the industrial revolution that revolves heavily around inter connectivity, automation, machine learning, and real-time data.
