Cyber security is one of the biggest talking points today due to how much we’ve evolved technology. The reason for why it’s a bug talking point is that with everything tech brings, new threats arise. Questions like “Are we truly safe online” and “Can tech be turned on us” are some of the hot questions asked. This is where cyber security comes in to help stop cyber threats from doing any damage. And the reasoning behind why society sees cyber security as an interdisciplinary societal issue is that all tech has a learning curve behind it. It can be used in engineering, basic computer science. It can be used for a lot of things because there is so much to learn about basic technology. And the more that you learn, the more ways you can find to protect your devices or servers. There are more pathways into a career of cyber security today than ever. Those paths can go from being an IT Security Engineer, to a Penetration Tester, along with a Security Architect. As technology upgrades, so do the jobs and career paths. And as tech evolves, there is a greater need for those kinds of jobs.So some of the disciplines that cyber security can use is Information Sciences, asking the question of how can information be stored. Another is Sociology, with sociology bringing in society with questions like “How do societal influences shape cyber offending?” and “How do social groups interact online?”. There are a lot of things that can go into cyber security, and to think this is just the beginning.
