During my previous pay period I was tasked with getting servers and finding software prices for these servers. One day out of the pay period I was tasked with picking up servers from another department. The department was the Information Technology Services group housed in The Electrical and Computational Sciences Building on campus. While going over there I was given a tour of the school’s main data center. This data center was quite large. The servers in the room took up an entire floor worth of space. I was shown how to properly monitor the network within the control room. I was given a tour to see each server and what their jobs are. I was shown where the school’s internet is distributed and controlled from. I was even shown where the police body camera server and the president house’s internet gateway is. 

After taking the tour I was given the servers and returned back to my office in Gornto. When I got back I started looking up all of the server’s software and compared prices across the internet. What the servers needed was a license in order to use the latest microsoft server platform. Many websites sell keys in order to access these services. There are so many types and ways to implement this software into your system. Mainly with how large you’re going to scale this product. This is done with the number of cores your server may have. It gets more expensive the more cores you need covered. Many discounters sell this software but it is important that you get it from a reputable site with a fair price to keep your costs low. During this time I made a spreadsheet on excel and presented this data to the network engineers. We picked out the best one possible and got the key needed to activate to operating system.
