The last project that I have worked on at my internship was the process of updating Apple computers so that they could be in compliance with the university’s regulations. In our storage we have a great stockpile of Apple computers. Some of which haven’t been touched since 2020 which means that older operating systems are still on the devices. The school utilizes a device manager named Jamf. Jamf is that keeps track of all of the Apple devices that belong to the university. This gives the schools information technology team the power to push updates to the computers without having to manually update them by hand. These computers that were in the storage had no access to a network for several years which means that they weren’t able to receive updates. Without these updates they fell out of compatibility with the schools current Jamf regulations and weren’t able to be registered.

This posed a problem for us as we have many new staff coming on board this month requesting Apple computers. As we started to bring out the boxes we started to realize that the computers were not connecting to any of the services needed for work. We quickly made a plan of copying the operating system onto a USB stick and manually updating each machine in our inventory. I was given the lead on this project and made our whole inventory ready to ship. This gave me the knowledge on how to stay proactive and how to manage deadlines without feeling stressed.
