Computers have made the world safer in terms or communcation, education, and our healthcare system. With computers it has never been easier to communicate with another person, business, etc as there are many ways for us to do it. IM, email, video chats, even just commenting on a funny video. With computers we are able to verify we are communicating safely and efficiently thanks to encryption and firewall protections so if you are trying to message someone you can ensure it is indeed the person you want to talk to. Because of the ease of communicating now it is easier to maintain relationships with people as we are able to communicate faster than we could without computers. Computers have also made leaps happen in the world of education. We are now able to take classes fully online, access textbooks or audiobooks for our classes and just allows people to research any topic imaginable. An educated person can help make our world safer as more informed decisions are made because of it. I believe since computers were incorporated into our everyday life, education has become better and safer as we have more references and pieces of information to back up whatever is being learned. I think the best thing computers did for us is allow our healthcare system to flourish and improve. We are not able to have electronic charts that are encrypted and safe with the protection of usernames and passwords or needing a passcode to access any confidential information. We are able to enforce HIPAA easier than ever thanks to computers and allowing us to make sure only the correct individuals have access to someones personal medical information. We are able to have simulations for healthcare professionals as well as AI imaging anf videos of surgeries or procedures to help doctors learn (this also ties into education). We would love to say that computers are 100% safe but that just is not the case. Computers do make our world less safe in some aspects. Because it is so easy to store our information on them this leaves us vulnerable to cyber attacks and the more information leaked/stolen, the greater impact it will have one someones life. It aslo makes us more reliant on computers and technology so if anything were to happen to it, we would be lost without it! Computers can also cuase political issues thanks to AI or hackers or voice simulators. If this technology gets into the wrong hands it could cause trouble in our government and put our country at risk. Overall, I think computers benefit our world more than it hurts it. As long as we are aware and try to protect ourselves from this, it will help us move forward better protected.
