Virtual Tours

At this site: http://www.ilovelibraries.org/article/take-virtual-tours-these-stunning-libraries you can take virtual tours of several different libraries around the world. The site has videos that you can watch to explore each library. The videos are narrated and explain different aspects of each library.

At this site: https://poly.google.com/view/7QgB8A2nwf9 you can tour the 9/11 Memorial and Museum. This site is a different virtual tour than first example. You can click and drag the screen and look around for a 360 degree view. There are also little points you can click on to receive more information along your tour.

Virtual tours can be used in a library setting in multiple ways. You can set up an actual tour of your library like in the first example. You could also use these tools in collaboration with subject area teachers. The school librarian can provide books on the subject and the teacher can take their students on a virtual tour of the subject they are studying.

There is also a website found here: https://tourbuilder.withgoogle.com/ where you can have students create their own virtual tour. This site can be used in different content areas. I used this site for a project in my World Geography classroom. The students had a lot of fun with it and even showed me a thing or two about how to use it. There is a bit of a learning curve and it would help if you had a step-by-step print out with pictures showing students how to create their tour.
