I believe that the role of an academic advisor is to foster the growth and development of the student population. As an advisor, I will teach students best practices for excelling within their programs and give them the tools they need for successful degree conferral and for their careers beyond commencement. I will serve as an advocate for the student body and help address student concerns. I will commit to treating my students with respect and providing the support and encouragement needed to help them achieve their dreams. I will not be afraid to speak out in favor of institutional change and work in favor of a university that is safe and welcoming for all. I aspire to learn just as much from the students I serve as I hope that they will learn from me. I promise to pay it forward by guiding and educating the next generation of scholars to better prepare the workforce of the future.
