Interdisciplinary Studies and Concepts

This interdisciplinary essay on developing Black Student Identity taught me a versatile research approach. By taking a look at different disciplines, I was able to identify similarities and differences between them. These skills are essential for a career in education, where having an understanding of complex issues from different perspectives and being able to find solutions for them is essential for a well-functioning classroom.

Women In Leadership

In this course, I selected a woman of leadership and researched to gain a better understanding of her life and her accomplishments. I took this information and created a PowerPoint with a voice of presentation feature.

Leadership Ethics

Reflection is a crucial component in not only leadership but also teaching, as it demonstrates one’s self-awareness, decision-making, and improvement. This lesson has taught me the value of reflecting on what I have learned, my experience, and how I will do moving forward.

Leadership and Law taught me the importance of the laws and how they are beneficial to keep things running fairly and justly. Understanding this is important for me as a future educator because I have to create a classroom with clear rules and guidelines to make sure everything is fair.

Developing Instructional Strategies PreK-6: Mathematics

In Developing Instructional Strategies PreK-6: Mathematics I learned to analyze and pull data for states’ curriculums. I then used this information to further break it down in my lesson plan and used my creativity to create actual lessons for the students to fit that topic. I also used critical thinking to understand alternative options to help students who are not on the level to do the lesson I have constructed.

This project helped develop essential skills in research and time management. I learned how time-consuming it is not only to create a lesson plan but to also create a newsletter around my lesson and find resources for the parents.

Through this project, I developed an understanding of creating a classroom that is completely inclusive and allows for connections to be made to students’ cultures and social lives. This assignment showed the importance of creating a familiar environment and connecting to students.

In this Classroom and Behavior Management course, I developed skills in conflict resolution, communication, and critical thinking. When leading a classroom you tend to juggle a multitude of different problems and personalities. This project taught me the importance of taking the time to communicate with the student and understand the change in behavior.

This project allowed me to develop skills in Data collection and analysis. I was given a collection of student data and had to organize and analysis it submitting a report afterward. These skills are essential in education when dealing with student data for testing, report card, and progress reports.
