Cybersecurity, Technology, and Society

CIA Triad: The CIA Triad is the foundations for cybersecurity. CIA stands for confidentiality, integrity, and availability, which is the common model for cybersecurity jobs nationwide. The triad includes policies that should be implemented to minimize threats to information systems.

Cybersecurity and Social ScienceArticle Review #2: Digital Criminal Investigations in the Era of Artificial Intelligence: A Comprehensive Overview

For this course, we had to do two article reviews that relates cybersecurity to the social sciences. We had to analyze scholarly articles that focus on seven goals: (1)how the topic relates to the principles of the social sciences, (2) the study’s research questions or hypotheses, (3) the types of research methods used, (4) the types of data and analysis done, (5) how concepts discussed in class relate to the article, (6) how the topic relates to the challenges, concerns, and contributions of marginalized groups, (7) and the overall contributions of the studies to society. For this article review, I chose to focus on the intersection of criminology and cybersecurity.

Cybersecurity Strategy and Policy

Over the course of a semester, I wrote a series of papers about the European Union’s Artificial Intelligence Act (2024) (EU AIA), with a cybersecurity focus. The EU created legislation that seeks to lay the foundation for AI integration into various forms of society. These papers allowed me to research one of the first regulations placed on AI, and the political, ethical and social implications of the AIA. It is important to note that the AIA was created before the prevalence of generative AI, and the lack of regulation that specifically addresses generative AI is noticeable; however, the AIA still has broader implications with ranging impact.

Paper One is an overview of the EU AIA, and the reason why I chose this specific policy
