This was a lab-based course done in a sandbox area with the goals of gaining exposure into the fields of digital forensics, identifying, collecting, processing, and preserving digital evidence on various types of devices, networks, and computing environments, and reporting digital forensic findings and preparing court presentation materials.

One of the assignments that I feel ties together what I have learned from the class is the midterm, where I created a plan for creating a digital forensics laboratory for a mid-sized police department. Overall, I feel like I should have spent more time creating the diagrams and maybe researching information for the lab accreditation plan. I think that now that I am more proficient with Visio, I could make a better physical layout section.

The final for digital forensics is a mock-forensics investigation. This investigation, as summarized in the abstract, looked into the items of a “congressman” that was suspected of having communication with “Russian adversaries”. Reflecting on the experience, I do think there are some sections that I could have expanded more on; however, I do think this is an accurate reflection of what I learned during the course through labs.
