Principles of science share commonality with cybersecurity. For instance, in a social system, technology is now deeply embedded. All the advancements in technology created a dependency on computer systems. These systems hold information pertaining to our health, financials, education and so much more. Because of this, it is vital to have cybersecurity implemented throughout to protect sensitive data from criminals who have also advanced in the use of technology in their pursuit to commit crimes.
Another principle is determinism. While I don’t necessarily believe determinism can explain human behavior, it can address issues that can lead to cybersecurity incidents. If computer systems do not receive regular security patches, and users are not restricted from accessing certain sites at work, or user are not properly trained on how to detect phishing emails, all of these things can leave a system vulnerable which can lead to security incidents like malware, viruses and hacking.
