After reviewing the NICE framework work categories, I realized that my current position would place me in the Implementation and Operations (IO) category as a System Administrator. The roles I find most interesting and would consider focusing on are in the Protection and Defense (PD) and Investigation (IN) categories. These roles are what I call the action roles because it would allow me to remain technical and grant me the opportunity to work with some really interesting tools. Some of the roles under these categories include Defensive Cybersecurity, Incident Response, Insider Threat Analyst, Cybercrime Investigation and Digital Evidence Analysis.

The Categories I find least interesting are: Oversight and Guidance and Design and Development. Although I am not completely a novice when it comes to cybersecurity, I view roles within the Oversight and Guidance to be that of someone with many years of experience and expertise in cybersecurity. I don’t find the roles in the Design and Development category too exciting in comparison to the roles in other categories as mentioned above.
