Why are you interested in cybersecurity technology?
Cybersecurity has always been a personal interest of mine since I was young. There were many things I didn’t get into such as sports, dance, arts. They were things I didn’t comprehend or have any interest in. However, I was always interested in technology, specifically computers. I was always glued to my screen trying to learn more about what technology had to offer. In high school, I was introduced to my first glimpse of computer science through classes and teachers. I quickly became the IT kid and was asked to help when technology got in the way.
What truly expanded my interest in computer science was my high school teacher who was enthusiastic about the subject. She wasn’t as familiar with it but was excited to teach it, so we all had the opportunity to learn as we went. I was also able to enjoy competing in competitions.
Later on, I came to realize that computer science as a whole was too much for me to handle. Yet I was the IT kid, but was in a small town which screamed football everyday. It was difficult but I still wanted to do it, so I opted for a branch of computer science- cybersecurity. My interest in cybersecurity really hit when I took my first criminal justice class, and I knew I wanted to be in on the action of defending and protecting information.
Long story short, my interest in cybersecurity bloomed from a personal interest since I was young to a developed enthusiasm now. I’m interested in cybersecurity because it’s a form of protections and defense that I can understand and visualize. It’s something that ever-expanding and ever growing, and I want to be apart of that growth. I want to be someone who joins early to see it’s never-ending beauty.
