My two majors: Cyber Operations and Modeling & Simulation Engineering both relate to cybersecurity technology because of the need for the protection provided by cybersecurity. Cyber operations is used to breach other systems while cybersecurity is used to protect the system from outside threats and being breached from external threats. This makes it complementary to cybersecurity since it is offensive while cybersecurity is defensive, so they coincide with each other. Cyber operations is offensive in the sense that it tries to gather evidence about cybercriminals and exploiting data while cybersecurity does the opposite for its own company. It is more on the defensive side by being used to protect against outside threats trying to exploit sensitive information in the organization and malware used to damage systems. It would be pointless for a company to obtain valuable information only for it to be compromised later, so cybersecurity is needed along with cyber operations for a company to be successful. Modeling & Simulation Engineering relates to cybersecurity technology in the sense that the simulations and data created would need to be secured because it might be a target for cybercrime and exploitation from hackers or even other companies. The personal information for both employees and customers would need to stay confidential. Both majors would benefit from the five framework core functions from the cybersecurity framework. It will allow them to create a plan of action to stay secured and react properly when a cybersecurity incident occurs.

Other majors that relate to cybersecurity technology are information technology, criminal justice, psychology, and computer engineering. The information in information technology is extremely sensitive and valuable, so cybersecurity is an absolute necessity in keeping it secure and ensuring no one exploits that information for their own benefit. Criminal justice relates to cybersecurity in the sense that those with a degree in this major would want to use cybersecurity to detect crimes made in the field of technology, how to prevent the incident from occurring again, and finding the culprit. Psychology ties into cybersecurity in which students with this major would try to determine the motivation of why someone caused a cybersecurity incident and how they could prove if that person is the culprit or not. Computer engineering is involved with cybersecurity based on its heavy involvement with computers, students in this field would need to know some cybersecurity to be able to solve issues that occur.
