Research Interests

My research within the Engineering Management and Systems Engineering (EMSE) Department at Old Dominion University focuses on the architectural resilience, performance optimization, and integration strategies of enterprise-scale distributed systems.

Primary Focus Areas

1. Microservices & Serverless Computing

Developing fault-tolerant, event-driven architectures utilizing AWS Step Functions, Lambda, and EventBridge to minimize system coupling and latency in high-volume environments.

2. API Security & Identity Management

Designing robust zero-trust security layers for microservices using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and JSON Web Tokens (JWT) for secure federated data exchange across regulatory boundaries.

3. Data Interoperability & Standardization

Bridging legacy system architectures with modern cloud endpoints using standardized data formats (e.g., LIMRA LDEx) and contract-first API management strategies.

4. DevSecOps & Continuous Delivery

Engineering automated CI/CD deployment pipelines incorporating security scanning, sub-second API performance monitoring, and zero-downtime deployment patterns.

Technical Seminars & Workshops

  • Hybrid Cloud Connectivity: Architectural patterns for bridging on-premises legacy systems with public cloud platforms.
  • Contract-First API Design: OpenAPI/RAML-driven specifications for enterprise-wide integration teams.
