Midpoint of my Internship

This marks the 6th week of my 12-week internship with General Electric. Up to this point, we haven’t completed a lot of my priorities. This is not to my own fault, however. The data interfaces I oversaw setting up are having difficulties and have been postponed. Overall, my main project has been postponed to a November completion time instead of an August completion. However, instead of sitting here and twiddling my thumbs, I got to work studying more automation in SQLite. I hit a roadblock with the automation in SQLite because of mapping issues. So, I’ve been reaching out to people to help me solve this issue. This is still a side project for me this summer. While the toolkit project is slowed, I have been assigned to assist in another project. The data we are working on storing come from four different data lakes, each data lake has application known as “Level 1 applications” or “L1 apps”. These applications are supposed to give weekly data updates into the old toolkit but some of the applications are not automated. I have been tasked with communicating and working with these application teams and the application owners to set up an automation process. As of right now, we have only met with three teams to discuss this issue and we can only meet with that little because if we met with all of them there would be too many emails and meetings to keep straight. Also, away from project work, the intern representatives have divided us interns up into study groups. I got to be put into the cybersecurity study group with a few others. Another intern activity they have us doing is a debate. My team’s debate isn’t for another 2-3 weeks however I feel like it will be difficult. My team has to argue why we should prioritize supply chain efficiency over security and being a security intern, this is difficult. Finally, I have my midterm presentation to give this week. The audience includes my boss, my boss’s boss, and my boss’s boss’s boss as well as a few other interns and anyone else who wants to watch.
