Served as a Graduate Research Assistant (September 2022-December 2024) for study funded by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD; PI Kristin Heron). Project utilized an ecological momentary assessment (EMA) design to examine associations between social, affective, health behaviors and eating behaviors (emphasis on binge eating behaviors) in young, heterosexual and sexual minority women. Tasks as Graduate Research Assistant included: Preparing study materials including programming surveys into Qualtrics and into the LifeData smartphone application; piloting materials and procedures; tracking participant compliance of daily EMA survey completion in pilot study; assisting with data cleaning.

Study primarily focused on experiences of withdrawal symptoms in response to a diet change in a population of women meeting criteria for Food Addiction. Recruited and scheduled participants using social media. Conducted literature reviews and developed and wrote study protocols. Conducted individual data collection sessions which consisted of a semi-structured autobiographical stress event interview. Transcribed interviews, wrote and recorded a script based on the interview, and completed data entry. Led participants through fMRI procedure and assisted fMRI technicians. Supervised and trained undergraduate research assistants. Attended regularly scheduled lab meetings to discuss logistics, related research articles and literature, findings, and publications in progress. Coordinated switch to a fully virtual study procedure during the COVID-19 pandemic.
