Some of the social sciences that digital forensics relate to would be Criminology, Sociology, Psychology. Digital forensics professionals main role is to prevent cyber attacks from happening, where they would look for electronic evidence of what may have cause a cyber attack in the first place. Also go into the mind of the cyber criminal and understand why this could’ve been cause, this would show how there is relation to Criminology. For the relation of Sociology, digital forensics can study understand how society is impacted by cyber attacks and can gain information and their perspectives on cyber attacks and what the root of the problem is. For the relation of Psychology, digital forensics can study the mind and behavior of people when they participate in cyber crimes. With the data of understanding the mind and behavior of a cyber criminal this can be used to point out potential cyber criminals which can be beneficial for preventing cyber crimes. I think it’s interesting about the speaker’s pathway to his career because he started off in a small accounting field and they need a IT person to help out with their networks where he would be able to help since he tinkers with computers already. He was sent an email for a digital forensics team that was starting up and he took the opportunity to join and hasn’t look back since. Why it’s interesting to me because he started off small and ended having a great opportunity for the career digital forensics.
