Hello! My name is Maddy Lightner. I’m currently a student at Old Dominion University majoring in English Literature. After college I hope to pursue a career in music journalism, as I’ve always been interested in music, understanding the motive behind artists, and discovering what it is about a song or artist that truly makes them enjoyable!

Some of my favorite musical artists include Ethel Cain, as I mentioned in the photo, Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Charli xcx, Fleetwood Mac (of course), Jimi Hendrix, and Weyes Blood. Some artists I’ve been slowly but surely trying to get more into are Black Sabbath, Bruce Springsteen, The Velvet Underground, and Leonard Cohen.

In my Intro to Rhetoric class, I’m currently working on a Rhetorical Criticism on Lana Del Rey’s Norman Fucking Rockwell! using ideological criticism while looking at her use of feminist ideologies and her opinion on ‘the American Dream’ as told through her songs.
