The speaker did a very good job at his presentation. The speaker gave us a little inside scoop on what its like and what it means to be in digital forensics career. Digital forensics relate to the social sciences in many ways. It can relate to criminology and psychology for starters. Looking at evidence gathered from a digital forensics investigation can gave us clues and insights on how the attacker got onto a system, and their tactics and procedures. Looking at evidence and figuring out how a criminal may have gained access to information is critical to understanding how to stop future attacks. It can give the organization better insight on how their weak points as well. The more evidence you obtain in a digital forensic investigation the better. You may be able to reveal emails, texts, and other conversations that can give clues on the mental state of the criminal, and why they decided to attack in the first place. All of these are great reasons why digital forensics are important. Going back to the speaker now, I think its awesome he just read the words “digital forensics” and said “Yup, that’s for me!” and never looked back. I can say the same for cyber security. I started hearing a lot about cyber security when I was in the military and decided to do some research. Eventually, I got of the navy and decided to start a degree in cyber security and never looked back! Funny how some things work out.
