The Social Media Disorder Scale is a great tool you can use to see how much time you have spent on social media, and how reliable you are to it. Some may go as far as using the word “addicted” to social media. On this scale I currently sit at a 4 out of 9. I have in the past tried to get rid of social media, and ended up back on it again weeks later. I have also felt bad for using social media as much as I have. I am thankful I am aware enough of these habits to try and combat them and spend less time on them. I think just about everybody can relate to most of the questions on the scale. The important thing is to be honest with yourself and try and actually make a positive change in your social media lifestyle. I think the scale numbers will vary from countries around the world depending on which region you are in. I suspect North America and Europe to have higher numbers globally. I would assume that there are also high numbers in eastern Asia as well. I think the lowest numbers would be in the middle east, not because the technology does not exist there, but simply because of current global affairs and civil unrest. I also think the numbers would be lower in parts of south America because people tend to be more in tune with nature in a lot of south American regions and spend more time with family and being outdoors.
