Little Stories for Tiny People Podcast Review

I chose to listen to Little Stories for Tiny People which was included on the Parents.com list of podcasts your kids should be listening to. This podcast claims to be “Perfect for bleary-eyed parents, innovative teachers, and at-wits’-end babysitters looking for an alternative and non-annoying way to engage the toddlers and young kids they love”, and after listening to the episode that featured the story of ‘Tad and Fish’ with my three-year old, I have to agree.

The storyteller sounded kind and engaging. Her vocabulary was varied and still age appropriate. She spoke right to the kids and set up the story well, including a reminder from some toddler peers that “there are no pictures! You have to imagine them in your mind! You can imagine them however you want!”

My toddler was entranced, but still responsive (unlike when watching TV shows when he is practically catatonic) for the entire 23 minutes. He could also tell me quite a bit about the story after the podcast which was impressive.

The story itself was sweet and non-annoying which is rare for content created with this age group in mind. I will definitely be listening to more of this podcast with our three-year old and look forward to it.

  1. I love that you were able to do a live testing! I’m glad to hear that it was engaging. I also looked at the podcasts for kids and enjoyed the KidNuz. It would be interesting to figure out what age ranges each of these podcasts best serves to better understand how they could be incorporated into classrooms and libraries.
