Cell Drawing

This drawing represents a eukaryotic animal cell, which is a foundational model for understanding cell structure and function in biology. As a biology major with a goal of teaching biology at the secondary school level, learning and understanding the generalized animal cell is important, as it forms the basis of how students first encounter cell biology. Eukaryotic cells exhibit membrane-bound organelles, each of which plays a role in maintaining cellular function. When students are first introduced to this new world of biology, understanding how these organelles work together, even at the most basic level, allows them to better understand how animal cells function in tissues and organ systems.
