Review Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs and explain how each level relates to your experiences with technology. Give specific examples of how your digital experiences relate to each level of need.
Abraham Maslow came up with the Hierarchy of Needs, which breaks down what humans need into a pyramid structure. It starts with our most basic physical needs and moves up to more complex ones. The hierarchy has five levels: physiological, love/belonging, esteem, and self-actualization. Since technology can’t fulfill our biological and physiological needs, it doesn’t cover that first level. For instance, feeling loved can happen through technology, like connecting with friends and family on social media. When I graduated from TCC, I was super excited to share the news. I posted it on Facebook, and that really boosted my sense of value. Technology also plays a big role in helping us with self-actualization in many ways. Personally, I love watching motivational videos because they keep me focused on my goals. They really shift my mindset, and I wouldn’t have access to those resources without technology.
