I think that the five most serious online violations (in no particular order) are bullying, faking your identity online, illegal searches on the internet, sharing passwords/addresses/photos of others, and collecting information about children. To start, online bullying, or cyberbullying, is wrong because just like how in real life it’s not ok to hurt and harass people, it also isn’t ok to hurt and harass people online. Cyberbullying could result in victims feeling depressed or even driving them to suicide. Second, faking your identity on the internet is wrong because it could ruin someone’s life. Say for example you want to get revenge on someone you know, so you use their face and name and start scamming people online. This could result in that person being framed and facing serious consequences for deviant activity online, when in reality they never did anything. Next, illegal searches on the internet are wrong because they are generally harmful, even if you think you’re not doing any harm. For example, if someone were to watch child pornography, even though they’re not physically or emotionally hurting anyone in particular, they are still a participant and contributing to a massive problem that affects millions. Next, sharing passwords, addresses, and photos is a serious violation because it infringes on the privacy of individuals. Lastly, collecting information about children is wrong because children aren’t old enough to consent to having data collected on them, nor are they mature enough yet to understand what it means to have their personal information/data collected.
