A big issue with storing electronic information is privacy. If we know it or not many different companies have our information and we can never be sure if that information is secure. Take Facebook for example, they are willing to sell their information to allied companies to personalize your ads, and even when they try to keep your data a secret it doesn’t always work. This becomes a big issue with any sort of legal documents as well. Because the verification process is so extensive for let’s say W-2 form or your driver’s license. Even your amazon profile. Now someone has your name, address, and maybe even credit card number.

Another issue is Security breaches as briefly mentioned earlier. If anyone gets passed the data security for any sort of important files they have very valuable information about many people. This could be held for ransom, used for identity theft or fraud, or sold to other countries for even more malicious purposes. Security is very important but not every company or service has the money to get the best software or hardware. There is also the human aspect, security is made by humans and there could be a small error that leads to an entire company’s downfall such as when Facebook and Instagram went offline for hours because an employee did not correctly launch the update sequence (I do not like Facebook)

System implementation: This is an issue because a lot of money is needed to run the security systems and to keep them updated. The initial hardware and software are already very costly, taking into account the high wages required for cyber teams as well as any expenses for broken equipment, other service charges, or system updates that require hardware upgrades. on top of all other expenses that are faced, this can be devastating so naturally, people end up cutting corners that lead to vulnerabilities.

Lastly is data inaccuracy. If a company has a lot of customers to keep data on some may be inaccurate. With so many people there may be an online or in-person system to input data. Either way at some point a human must input data into a system and this is where problems arise. If anything is mistyped or misheard there could be data in systems that are wrong and could cause issues in the future. data inaccuracy is always going to be an issue when humans are involved.
