Cybersecurity in the Media

Some of the examples given in the clip were rated pretty well. Movies and TV shows makes everything seem so easy but very complicated at the same time. Actors spew words that might only make sense to someone in the field of cybersecurity. They explain what seems to be very complicated things they are trying to accomplish, then in a split second, it’s completed. I had the opportunity to work with a password cracking tool in another class and it is not a quick process especially if the password is complex. My favorite parts shown in movies and TV shows are when they show holograms or 3d graphics depicting the code they are attempting to break or hack. The media definitely makes it look cool. They also stereotype hackers and the cybersecurity folks. They make the hackers seem like intelligent but really bad people who lurk in dark places, and the cybersecurity folks usually are painted as super “nerds” or weird people.
