The registration period for spring semester classes begins this Friday. Are you prepared for the frenzy of who, when, and where to choose classes? There are many steps I took in this long, drawn-out, and complex process. Everything from what time the classes are happening to what building is that class located came into my consideration for spring class selections. To ensure that I am prepared for spring semester class registration I pre-planned my steps, took the initiative to schedule my advisor meeting as early as possible, and I gathered external influences information for the best researched class selections.
To begin my process of class registration for spring semester I had to create a brainstorm. A similar process to creating a brainstorm for writing an essay in university 150. I went through all the classes I can take to accumulate 120 credits to graduate, and then slowly narrowed down the next five I would like to attend next semester. I came to the conclusion of these five classes, English 110, Statistics, Computer Literacy, Public Speaking, and Introduction to Criminology. I believe these differential in classes will complement each other in a way that next semester will not be to challenging.
To ensure my process was moving forward in the right direction; I scheduled my advisor meeting appointment as early as my schedule would allow possible. The best and earliest available date that I could fit into my schedule realistically was October 10 at 11:30 in the morning. I was proud of my initiative because it allowed me to setup an early appointment and enhanced my chances at succeeding at registering for classes this spring. My advisor was proud of my determination to succeed at college, and helped me critique my schedule to the best of her abilities and knowledge. She gave my time ticket for registration to me and said that I was ready to register for classes on November 13th at three in the afternoon.
The final major step in the class registration process I took was using external resources. Their extra information and help they provided, guided my choices and allowed for multiple class considerations. For example, my mother broadened my horizons and told me not to be afraid to take classes I usually would never think about registering for. Also my friends had a decent influence on my class choices; because you do not want to take classes that none of your peers are in. If you struggle in your classes; at least struggle with a friend, therefore both of you all can help one another succeed.
Succeeding in class registration for the spring semester of 2016 would not have been so simple without the help of the precautions I took in order to succeed. I would not want to be stuck at the end of the registration period and not be able to take any of the classes I wish. That would make my second semester at college and very brutal and difficult one to manage. I understand others may have much more hectic schedules than I, however others must make time in life to achieve greatness. This process will allow me to not only succeed next semester, but to blossom into the all-around man I will be one day.
