Technical understanding & Critical thinking

Preparing for and earning my CompTIA Security+ certification strengthened my foundational understanding of cybersecurity principles, including network security, access control, cryptography, and risk management. The certification process challenged me to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world security scenarios, developing both my critical thinking and technical troubleshooting skills. This certification not only validates my knowledge but also reflects my initiative and commitment to staying current with industry standards which are key traits for any cybersecurity professional.

networking abilities

In IT315, I designed a complete network schematic for a high school, including a detailed PowerPoint presentation outlining equipment needs, physical layout, budget, and network topology. This project helped me gain a practical understanding of how to plan and scale a secure and efficient network for a real-world environment. I learned to think both technically and strategically — considering hardware compatibility, cable management, and security zones. These networking skills will be crucial in roles involving infrastructure planning or cybersecurity architecture.

Database Design & Organizational Skills

For my IT450 course, I created a fully functional relational database for an instrument sales company. The project involved designing table structures, creating queries, building forms and reports, and ensuring normalization for efficiency. This assignment sharpened my attention to detail and ability to organize complex information logically. It also enhanced my SQL and database management skills, which are essential for roles that require data integrity, backend systems management, or secure data handling.
