How do engineers make cyber security safer?

Engineers provide the foundation for a disciplined and structured approach to a system. These engineers make trustworthy systems and for them to be trustworthy that have to include a couple of requirements. It includes but not limited to attributes of safety, security, reliability, dependability, resilience, and one of the most important in my opinion, survivability under a wide range of adversities. Cyber Security engineers are given the responsibility  of designing and implementing secure network solutions that are meant to defend systems against hacker and other cyber threats and attacks. They also are responsible for testing and monitoring these systems and networks, continuously making sure that all of the system’s defenses are up to date and working correctly. They analyze other networks to see how they could be improved and point out the flaws and ways that they could be compromised. And if these systems do get compromised during an attack then the engineers are the ones who come up with ways to recover for the attack and prevent it from happening again or at least reduce the damage done.

On top of that these engineers are the ones who create these systems so just based off of that these networks would be more safe. If a company tried to implement these cyber networks without the help of engineers they would most likely be easily compromised. Even with some background, these engineers do it almost everyday so I would hope that these cyber networks are safer just based off the fact that building and making these networks and systems safer is their job.
