With today’s technology I beleive it simplifies the interactions between offenders and victims. I say this because when criminals are commiting a crime online they are likely doing it with more ease than in real life. For example, if you are trying to break into someones house to steal their money and precious jewelry you would need to plan this attack. Is anyone home? How many people? Have you been in there before? Where is the money kept? Even once you plan this you still have to follow through with the act and potentially come face to face with the victim risking them being able to identify you. You also risk getting caught way more than if you were to commit this crime online. If the criminal were to do this online, he would have to hack into this person’s bank account and steal their information and take their money and robbing them this way. This is harder to trace as most hackers are smart and use aliases and use untraceable devices. Because of this it is harder to get caught and it might take the victim longer to realize someone has hacked their account. Most people today do not think about online attacks as a threat to them until it is too late and some act has already been committed against them! This can be due to lack of knowledge and lack of security. Cyber criminals also make it easy to trust them as they have AI to replicate someone you knows voice or they will tell you information only people you know would know which makes you tell them more information without realizing you have already been hacked. These interactions between the two are much simpler as they are not personal at this point it is more about how much damage can I cause to this person’s life before they realize it? Technology is a wonderful thing but only if it is used correctly and safely. It is easier than ever for criminals to manipulate their victims online and it will only continue to get easier as technology advances. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
