One thing I learned that connected to my other coursework was the amphipathic nature of phospholipids. I am doing research in an organic chemistry lab and we are studying colorimetric sensing using an amphipathic molecule and gold nanoparticles. Understanding previous studies from the lab helped me understand the lipid bilayer, and learning about the interactions between lipids helped me further understand how amphipathic molecules could work in the lab. I want to explore the biochemistry side of this project, so learning more about interactions of similar molecules has been helpful. Making connections is highly important for learning (maybe even increasing neuroplasticity?!) and I hope to continue making these connections as I continue into Biochemistry next semester.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
