Cyber security risk stretches worldwide, cyber crimes have no boundaries or respect for any nation. With the advancement of technology cyber threats are popping up everywhere and in all different types of forms. Countries face various problems and may see activity based on who they are and what they may have in their possession. The thing about cyber threats is that they can be in a different room, building, city, or even country to make an attempt at your services. Also, countries are different in general, whether, by security standards or just basic, everyone is targeted in a specific way. Surprisingly spam can be a big factor in cyber threats way more than you may think. Most of the spam sent out today, about 76%, is from a type of malware called a botnet. Botnets are networks or groups of malware-infected machines that someone can operate remotely. Most likely the victim will be clueless that their system is infected and with the botnet downloaded the operator can start flooding the user’s inbox with spam. There are estimated to be about 14% of all internet-connected computers to have at least one botnet installed with some of the top countries containing these hosts being China, Vietnam, India, and Russia. After discussing spam I wanted to compare something similar that has been majorly targeting the United States which would be phishing. Phishing is when someone sends you an email and pretends to be someone else whether they sent it from a real email and had a fake sender or are just disguising themselves as an important company that relates to the target. Similar countries are among the top targeted by fishing like China and Russia, but the United States suffers 60% of the worldwide phishing attacks. These attacks can be costly if successful even costing companies about 20,000 per business. Everyone is vulnerable to cyber attacks from anywhere whether it is minor or major.
