I have recently learned that Cybersecurity is very broad and can consist of many different jobs and careers that do not even require technical skills in programming or coding. There are jobs out there within the cybersecurity world that require a different set of skills that are not always looked at as important when you look at it from face value. When you think of cybersecurity you think of network security or hackers, it turns out to be much more. Things you would never usually consider like art, sociology, criminology, engineering, and even marketing are all degrees that can be applied to cybersecurity. I once heard you can find yourself working in the cybersecurity world without even having a degree in the field, and that there are so many different jobs out there that ask for many different skill sets. There are jobs out there that need artists who are sometimes asked to help create and design eye-catching advertisements that help bring in and teach people more about cybersecurity like what it is for and how to utilize it. Then there are jobs that are out there that need help identifying why people do certain things based on their actions which can help lead to solutions on what could be coming next. At the end of the day, we are all human and we all make decisions based on a current situation and mindset. Knowing and understanding things like that can help you get an idea of why someone is hacking a network or even what they want it for or how they are going to use it. The cybersecurity industry also needs people who are good at problem-solving and can see when something is off. So that it can be identified and dealt with properly noticing subtle changes is a great quality to have and is sometimes heightened and utilized in other fields like engineering. Looking at things from different perspectives and getting a consultation from an outside-the-box thinker someone who notices the little things can be beneficial and sometimes comes from other backgrounds. You never know what background can open the door to cybersecurity many different skill sets can be applied in many different ways. Even when you consider marketing not only can they assist with the delivery of a pitch to help sell services to a company, but there can be a chance that they are even familiar with current social media platforms and can help identify certain ads that are set up out there to scam people. With that being said you never know what or where your skills are needed or even how many different ways you can utilize them. Cybersecurity I believe is one field that accepts and utilizes many different skills in many creative ways.
