Cyber technology has had a significant impact on the interaction between offenders and victims. The most drastic impact or change I would consider would be the fact that offenders no longer have to be in the same room as the victims. With how much technology has advanced it opens the door to more and more for everyone including criminals also giving them opportunities to take advantage of others. Yes, technology has changed the way we communicate in many ways with things like computers, cell phones, and tablets allowing people to communicate almost instantaneously. When you add in other factors like social media which are platforms where you might not only find basic information like name and age but also pictures and videos allowing someone to access these items for free in most cases. This can be dangerous and leave people very vulnerable especially with some functions even showing the location of said photo or video. With information like this out and easy access to functions that allow messaging online harassment or cyberbullying can take place from anywhere and at any time. Cyberbullying is the use of digital media technologies to hurt people and this occurs throughout the life course and can even appear in the workplace. The ability to attack and hurt people from a safe far away place online compared to a face-to-face interaction may tend to give them more confidence to do something that they may not do in person. This action is most commonly seen through verbal abuse which can tend to put more pressure on people emotionally and the available online access makes it a lot more constant. Cyber technology has impacted the interactions between offenders and victims in many different ways and although very different from physical damage emotional damage can in some cases cause more damage and inflict deeper wounds than a physical attack ever could.
