I am interested in Cybersecurity because of how broad and innovative it is. I was recently introduced to the field after running into a family friend who works in the industry and hinted to me that I should look into it. I was very hesitant because although I am familiar with tech, I was never that good with it. To my initial understanding when I heard Cybersecurity my first thought would be programming and hacking; I soon found that not to be entirely accurate. After a little bit of research seeing all of the different career paths and opportunities that are available within the industry, it made me realize not only were there many things that I did not know, but there were even more that I wanted to discover. The cybersecurity world is so big and growing every day, and there are challenges around every corner. There are many different types of jobs that you would not even think were associated with Cybersecurity; jobs from Graphic designers to Consultants and even ethical hackers. There are many different opportunities and skills that are out there to learn and uncover as well. Then there is the fact that it has great job security and a more than fair amount of job openings to go along with it. The industry is looking for people day in and day out and with so many opportunities out there and with how the world and technology are evolving and changing every day a new problem emerges along with it. There are a multitude of jobs out there that require many different backgrounds from obtaining degrees, certifications, or even just a person who comes open and ready with the ability to learn. Personally, I really enjoy challenging myself and solving problems and cybersecurity is something I believe I can pursue and have a successful career in if I work towards it. So with the fact that it has so many opportunities out there paired with how large and expanding the industry is, it really piqued my interest to take a step forward with hopes of one day having success within the field of cybersecurity.
