BLUF: We need to move forward in society with a deeper understanding of technology and its purpose for us then ever before.

I think since we cannot predict how the future will change our understanding or tech, we should develop more adaptable technology, things that can take something new and either mesh or block it. If we are coming to a world where public space is filled with tech, we need it to all run smoothly together. Imagine how complicated it would be if none of the parts wanted to work seamlessly together, it would take year and years to ever get near a tech future let alone a safe tech future. This is the short-arm of knowledge, the concept just shows we need regulations or rules to these things. Regulations are they key to meshing it all together to create networks that want to work together and not be their own units. I think businesses and markets need to make sure that their cybersecurity is up to par as they are usually main targets of hackers. More new things means more vulnerabilities as we heard Doris Locking explain in class about hospitals. Individuals and groups should be mindful to these changes and understand the risks of associating with some things that may not be very secure. We need to make sure what’s being developed is aimed to improve the quality of our lives and not creating a panopticon online which could be happening due to intelligification. I think big limits on business and markets is good because some tech can be exploitive or harmful for society like a market designed with AI to get as much money from customers while giving them as little product as possible or things like that. I also think individuals or groups of sharks buying ps5’s with computer tools extremely quickly, or groups that run bots and scripts to buy out sales and resale should be regulated and limited. Somethings are too powerful for uses like this as they can be very very harmful to society and the economy.

In conclusion, we should move into this intelligification with caution and goals of what we truly want out of these technologies and not if we can just make them, we need to consider why we make them or how they will effect us in society and for our future.
