I think some things just don’t need to be digitized. Human DNA is a sort of sacred to each person type thing. Ethically, I think we shouldn’t make this a normal thing if we can’t make absolutely sure we can protect it. It is unwise to advance into technology we don’t have a complete grasp of the full scope and potential of DNA leaks. I think we as the human race have a responsibility with our inventions. If we look at plastic for instance, that took a horrible turn for our environment and lead to untold damage to the Earth. Do we really want to trust the idea of digitizing DNA? What happens if your DNA file gets corrupted and we use it anyway? We won’t know what to do with digitized DNA until the future and I think it can lead to bad things. However, it could lead us to breakthroughs in technology and science. We should move forward into this era of technology with hesitation and careful planning rather than speedy development as our cybersecurity isn’t perfect yet.
