Cybersecurity has been one of the critical issue that every country is facing lately specially in the United States. Although Americas is not on the top of the list on being the least cyber-secured in the world, there are still has room for improvement that every company or organization that should take.

According to a study conducted by Comparitech, United States placed on top 17th (Bischoff, 2022). Although this ranking is still far from ideal, United States still must continue to prioritize cybersecurity to protect all individual’s private information, business and especially government agencies from all cyber threats.

The most significant cybersecurity that the United States is facing is the threat of state-sponsored cyber-attacks. In prior years, America has faced numbers of cyber-attacks from foreign adversaries like Russia, China and Iran. These attacks have targeted critical infrastructure such as electrical grid, and had they had the opportunity to steal sensitive data from the government agencies and corporations.

Another significant cybersecurity risk facing the United States is the threat of cybercrime. According to the FBI, cybercrime cost Americans more than $4.2 billion in 2020, with the most common types of cybercrime being phishing, non-payment/non-delivery scams, and extortion (FBI, 2021). These attacks often target individuals and small businesses, which may not have the resources to protect themselves from cyber threats.

To address these cybersecurity risks, the United States must continue to invest in cybersecurity infrastructure and education. This includes investing in advanced cybersecurity technologies, such as artificial intelligence and machine learning, to detect and prevent cyber attacks. It also includes educating individuals and businesses about the importance of cybersecurity and providing them with the tools and resources they need to protect themselves from cyber threats.

In conclusion, while the United States ranks relatively high in terms of cybersecurity, there is still room for improvement. The country faces significant cybersecurity risks, including the threat of state-sponsored cyber attacks and cybercrime. To address these risks, the United States must continue to invest in cybersecurity infrastructure and education, and work to build a more secure digital future for all Americans.
