The country I will be talking about to compare cyber risks with the United States will be Russia. The United States has a lot more security and password threats compared to Russia which has more software and framework issues. And also having email spam is one of the most common attacks and is one of the main cybercrime today. Spam emails make up 72% of all emails worldwide. The top countries that send spam emails are 4 China, Brazil, the United States, and Russia. While reading the article it said that human resources were lost due to the nuisance of soam was estimated to be at, at least $22 billion around 2004. Spams can be very harmful. These spams are sent from a malware called a Botnet.

A botnet is a network or cluster of malware-infected machines that the cybercriminal can control remotely over the internet. A victim that owns the infected computer who is unaware of the installation, and the botnet master can use as many as thousands of remote PCs running in parallel to flood users’ inboxes with spam as much as they want to. The estimated number of computers that are infected with at least one botnet is estimated to be at least 14%. Russia is one of the countries that host botnets. Most attackers don’t have to exploit a technical vulnerability in a computer system to do the schemes they are planning to get done.

There are three main ways to form internet fraud, but the most often fraud that is done is perpetrated using emails and sending spam to someone’s inbox. The United States is targeted as the most phishing attack, suffering 60% of worldwide phishing volumes. Most individual falls victim to a phishing attack, the average amount that is lost is $1,800. Sometimes businesses are often targeted, which results in a loss of $20,070.
