Like anything else, there are both costs and benefits to developing cybersecurity programs in business. Cybersecurity is in high demand and as a result, many cybersecurity businesses have been created like: Cyber operations, cybersecurity consulting, cybersecurity products/vendors, insurance, and training. Typically cybersecurity consultants are responsible for assessing computers, networks, and technological infrastructures for risk. They recommend changes when appropriate, provide changes to information technology systems, and then evaluate the impact of said changes. 

Cybersecurity vendors are companies that sell cybersecurity-related products and services which may include: antivirus software, tech solutions, breach detection services, data analysis, and more. It is recommended that cybersecurity vendors have proper notification if a breach occurs, make clear the limits of liability/ warranties, and properly discard the information after the termination of the contract. 

The benefit of developing cybersecurity programs in business is that it allows the company/ business to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the system. This can be done by having a secure system, maintaining up-to-date software, having a strong IT team, continuous training of employees, and having effective policies. Employee-related protection steps are crucial to business security so training should not only be continuous but thorough. There should be clear guidelines and policies and formal policies for corrections.  Some cybersecurity training tips include: stressing the connection between human error and cybersecurity and making the training mandatory, relevant, and frequent. 

While there are efforts in place to protect businesses there are still costs associated because hackers have ways of getting around protective measures and other times simple accidents can have significant consequences. Additionally, services in themself can be based on the size of the company, type of company, risk management processes, and the type of virus protection software needed. 

On average the global loss to cyberattacks is 7.7 mill, but worse is the U.S. loss with 15 mill per company followed by Russia.
