There are many ways to ensure that your computer is safe. First of all is to make sure you have the proper settings on your computer and that your information is password protected with a strong password. Computers can also be set up with firewalls to make sure that there is protection in place against certain types of malware. Computers also need to be kept up to date with the latest technology and files should be deleted periodically that are not being used. Computers also need to have all their data backed up incase of emergencies where a computer could be compromised so there is a way to retrieve the data
Computers are more safe now because of all the knowledge we have about potential harm that can come from cyber attacks. Computer users are aware of the dangers of hackers infiltrating computers and there are more systems in place to prevent attacks from happening. There is firewall protection put on computers that will block potential viruses. Computers are also safer now because users know the importance of having a secure password. People know now that just using an easily identified code like their birthdate could result in someone easily guessing their password and accessing their private information. Another way computers are safer is because users are more aware of the tactics hackers use to gain access to systems. Phishing emails are something that businesses are educating their employees on now to recognize the dangers of clicking suspicious links. Misspelled words or mismatched senders can be major clues that this email is to be taken seriously and could be dangerous to the computer system.
Ways computers are not as safe anymore would be that as technology to protect the computer advances so does the technology and hacking techniques to attack the computer. Another way that computers are not as safe is that the malware is so much more advanced that if the computer system is attacked it can be very difficult to fix the damage done by the advanced malware. Systems are so connected now that an attack on one computer could cause massive damage to not only that system but many other systems. As more and more information is on the computer it means there is a higher risk of hackers being able to access information and exploit it, for example issues of national security.
