Can you spot three fake websites and compare the three fake websites to three real websites, plus showcase what makes the fake websites fake?(Week 6)

When I am trying to identify if a website is fake, the first thing I will do is confirm the URL. Are there any slight variations in the spelling, double letters, extra numbers? With most legitimate sites, they are now using encryption and certificates to secure all the traffic. The URL should begin with “https://” indicating it is using Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure and should have a lock near the URL as well, indicating the appropriate certificate is present.

Once I am on the website, I will check the page for any glaring design flaws, incorrectly spelled words, or bad quality photos. If a company has put in the effort to make a website, they would have wanted it to look professional and want prospective customers to return to it.

If all the above looks good though im still not confident with the validity of the site, I would seek out their “Contact Us” page. If legitimate, they would want prospective customers to be able to reach out to them should the need arise. The page might contain a phone number, email, and headquarters address. If the page wasn’t legitimate, the information may not be on there or may not be usable to mislead the viewer.
