Although cybersecurity can be a complex and difficult field to work in, its role within movies or TV shows seldom displays the true nature in which cybersecurity tasks are completed. In doing so, the perception of cyber threats, hackers, and security becomes skewed. The full picture is rarely shown onscreen of what’s being completed, oversimplifying or misrepresenting the technical aspects that would come with executing a complex infiltration of a targeted system(s). Though, with its cinematic embellishment of certain activities, it may lead to curiosity or a desire to know and learn more, prompting individuals to enter the field of cybersecurity or strengthen their cyber hygiene as to not end up like a target on the latest TV series.
