Something I learned in this class that has/will help me make connections in the field of marine biology was learning about metabolism. Specifically, learning about bacteria photosynthesis and visually seeing the different parts in the chloroplast. This specific topic will help me make connections due to the variety of phytoplankton and marine plant species that use photosynthesis to stay alive. Although we didn’t dive too deep into the specifics, understanding the basic formation and structure of chlorophyll as well as Photosystem II will broaden my understanding of what is going on behind the scenes when it comes to learning about the different types of marnie plant species and different phytoplankton.
