The offenders now a day have better ways to interact with the victims. The offenders can find ways to hide from the victims by hiding their IP address and many others things, sometimes as simple as changing your name and profile picture to something different. Cybercrime studies have shown a victim to offender overlaps and correlate to a low self-control experience. Offenders are finding new ways to terrorize their victims without being tracked. The more technology develops, the more the crime rates will increase and the law enforcement will have to increase their defenses. They will have to provide various ways to deal with crime and technology. But technology has made a great work and social environment for people all over the world. With that being said, if people do not feel safe online because of the offenders that can cause a decrease in jobs available. The world is becoming more dependent on the internet and computer the more they progress. While there are many job opportunities, the most in-demand jobs are the ones to do with cybersecurity and IT.
But back to the impact interactions between offenders and victims, victims don’t really have much of a voice nor do they intend on speaking out about their problems. The low self-control that they have means that they don’t necessarily engage physically in the matter. The victim usually holds onto the situation and hopes it gets better and or goes away. If the situation does escalate, they may go to the authorities but there is no guarantee they will. This allows the offender to get away with whatever crime they have committed or also allows them to go to someone else and terrorize another person.
I believe people should speak up about their problems instead of holding them in and causing more pain in the long run.
