There are many different ethical issues when it comes to storing information online. You have the public or private debate. This is where people are sharing your information that you may have wanted to be private but since you gave it to them it can now be public. Some people get a profit off selling people your information such as passwords, banking information, and other important information that you wouldn’t really want other people in the world to know about. There is also an ethical issue called informed consent. Many people wonder why their email is getting so much spam and when random people are calling their phone. This is all because when you give one people your number, they can give it out to people as a participate study. People use your number to try to get your person information. This is called phishing. Phishing is where people send you emails, text messages, or even call you trying to use information they have already collected from you to try and get your passwords, banking information, and even social security numbers. Nowadays that is how many people are trying to get people information since this generation is completely online.
The main key ethical issue is mainly privacy. Privacy online is very hard to come by. Most people post whatever they want online without giving it a second through. Well, that isn’t the safest option. All people need nowadays is a number. The number could be a street sign, a phone number, or even a license plate. That information can open up a lot for someone who is trying to steal your identity or even steal more information from you. You may thing “Oh only my friends can see this.” But that isn’t always true. Some hackers have found ways to get your account up and it no longer be private and now it is public in their eyes. Technology is so advanced and we have to stay up to date with our security protocols and what all we post online.
