Cell Drawing: A mature red blood cell (erythrocyte). This cell, once mature, doesn’t actually contain a nucleus or organelles in order to accommodate maximum space for hemoglobin.Biomolecule Drawing: A saturated triglyceride (Glyceryl Tristearate). This molecule is a triglyceride derived from three units of stearic acid. It is an odorless, white powder obtained from animal fats created as a byproduct of processing beef.I created this meme because I find the process of mitosis and apoptosis to be really interesting! My biggest take away from cell biology this semester has been my new understanding of just how complex our bodies are, let alone our cells. It continually amazes me that our cells are able to regulate and execute a process like apoptosis through the means of chemical signaling, it certainly reinforces that our cells are indeed alive and that their small scale functions make a very large difference! Here is a collection of drawings or “modern artistic interpretations” of cell biology concepts and structures.
A reflection of how a topic in this class was relatable to my other course work.
